Commant by Bill Fritz. Hi y'all. I used computers extensively during my career following Survival School as most of the EW equipment was nothing more than a human operated computer. Bob Pavelko: Did you have the ALR-62 and ALQ-137 EW gear in your FBs when you were in them. Of course both were nothing but "giant" computers with look-uip tables to compare frequency, PRF, Pulse width etc and to determine what the threat was. In the case of the jammer, it was deception and had to reply with a deception program prior to the arrival of the third pusle with PRF in the thousands ( that is, 5,000 pulses per second), so these were serious computers. I was the PEM at SAC HQ for the development of both those systems, and I bet you really enjoyed the "new guy" audio tones in the 62. I went on to be PEM for EF-111A at HQ USAF, was in charge of the Strategic Defensive Systems development program element ( 64738F), was AF delegate to NATO for EW, and flew BUFFs during TET 69 and Linebacker II. Have a movie of LB II which I will be using for instruction during the iPhoto SIG where we will be talking about creating movies using those two apps. Flew only the B-52 and mostly D and G. 6000 hrs in 7 years. I was assigned as PEM for the FBs because I was the "new guy" in the office and all the other systems were spoken for. FYI, the Royal Australian AF now has the FBs and love them. Have been to the Air Show Down Under a few times and the highlight of the final evening show is a high speed low altitude fly by by the FB dumping fuel with the burners lite in a climb out. You can see it for miles. Cheers all, and than you for your service.

Thanks! Think this will be another light travel year... I'll be happy if we can swing a late summer trip to Cozumel, Switzerland is probably a few years off still. I do have friends who are moving back to Germany next year so maybe we can shack up with them... that'd save a few bucks!

Welcome John. When are we going back to Switzerland? When the stock market recovers for me.... In the meantime it may be Glacier National Park etc. and the scrumptious Huckleberrys.

Served in the post-vietnam, pre-middle east era. US Navy from 76-80... a sailor who never stepped foot onto a ship. I was an aircraft mechanic and spent my four years assigned to a training squadron at NAS Lemoore in the farmlands of California. Also something of a love/hate relationship at the time, but in retrospect it really was the 'kick in the pants' that changed me from a lazy kid to a responsible adult (my wife might argue about being an 'adult' though). : )

Never touched a computer until around 91 or 92 when my wife taught me DOS and I started playing around on her PC. A few years later I started taking design courses and was introduced to Apple computers... and the rest as they say is history. Okay, enough rambling from me!

I had a friend emailed them to me recently. I thought veterans would get a kick out of them. I think the friend got the pics from various family members and acquaintances.

Do you find them cute?

I am not a veteran. I do want to THANK each and every one of you who have ever served in any branch of the US-Armed Forces. Thank you, Thank you!

My father joined the Airforce when it was newly created as it's own branch, Both my grandfathers were veterans of WWI. Many of my cousins were in Vietnam. Some never came home. I have so many "war" stories my father shared with me. My grandfather would never speak of the war. I can only imagine the pain and hurt he went through.

I remember how "Saving Private Ryan" made me feel and I know that is Hollywood's perception of war.

My dad was a radio repairman and radar technician in the Airforce. He sometimes was the radio operator on B-36 flights. Most of his "war stories" are from those flights.

Just want to thank all the Vet's again!

I'm a retired Air Force pilot (B-1B, FB-111A, B-52D/F/G, O-2A, and KC-135A). Served 28+ years (including Vietnam in 1969, 1970, 1972, 1973, and 1974) following graduation from the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs. I enjoyed every minute of serving. I just returned from my 40th reunion the first weekend of Oct '08.

I never used a computer until the summer of 1987 when I attended the year-long Navy War College in Newport, RI. I bought a 525k enhanced model in Newport which I still have.

Happy Veterans' Day!
